Something about us
THE BEGINNINGS
Er Macellaio is a family story that begins in the 1940s with our great-grandmother who opens the trattoria “Antico Falcone” on Via Trionfale in Rome.
Then her daughter Rosmunda (our paternal grandmother) joins; as a child, as soon as she leaves school, she leaves her schoolbag behind the counter and lends a hand. As an adult, together with her husband Renato Serafini, she creates one of the most famous places in central Italy, the “Forchetta d'oro” on Via Casilina, a trattoria and hotel where in the 1960s and 1970s hundreds of people come to eat every day.
THE STORY CONTINUES...
The story repeats itself, one after the other the children join, Ivana, Stefania, Eugenio and Sandro who since they were little help their parents in the trattoria. It is precisely the youngest, Sandro, who as an adult creates an all-Italian legend. Sandro Serafini (father) started from the outskirts of Rome to arrive in the heart of the city.
He started in Campagnano di Roma where with his wife Gigliola (mother), he created “L'asino che ride”, a restaurant famous in the 80s/90s with its 500 daily seats and events such as weddings and New Year's Eve with 1000 or more attendees.
Here too, the family history repeats itself from generation to generation: the children, Renato, Sergio and Cristiana divide their time between school and work, that work that becomes a passion when they grow up. In 2000, Sandro, Gigliola, with their children Renato, Sergio and Cristiana opened the first of the Capital's trendy restaurants in the Eur Torrino area of Rome, in the years to follow, new venues, new successes, all focused on good food.
